1 Peter: Persevering on the Pilgrim Pathway
1 Peter 3:18-22

The suffering of Christ on our behalf not only saves us, it also sustains us in our sufferings. To demonstrate that point, the Apostle Peter appeals to the story of Noah and God’s deliverance of him through the flood. Christian baptism relates to that historical event, demonstrating the certainty of our salvation through the flood of righteous suffering.

1 Peter: Persevering on the Pilgrim Pathway

Series Description

The Apostle Peter’s first letter, addressed to Christians living as resident aliens throughout Asia Minor, was written to encourage believers who, because of their faith, are being persecuted and oppressed. Though the Christian life is never an easy one to live, Christians can draw strength by remembering their true identity which comes from what God has accomplished in history on their behalf. Standing firm in their true identity, Christians are exhorted to live faithfully within their particular cultures and social structures, however hostile to the Christian faith these may be.
