1 Peter: Persevering on the Pilgrim Pathway
1 Peter 3:1-6

The Apostle Peter continues to encourage Christians to live honorably, this time exhorting Christian wives to be submissive to their own husbands. This submission is an important part of a godly wife’s attractiveness, which God intends to use to draw even unbelieving husbands to faith in the gospel. And though practicing submission often puts a wife at risk, proper submission is not an expression of weakness or inferiority but rather a bold confidence in the sovereignty of God.

1 Peter: Persevering on the Pilgrim Pathway

Series Description

The Apostle Peter’s first letter, addressed to Christians living as resident aliens throughout Asia Minor, was written to encourage believers who, because of their faith, are being persecuted and oppressed. Though the Christian life is never an easy one to live, Christians can draw strength by remembering their true identity which comes from what God has accomplished in history on their behalf. Standing firm in their true identity, Christians are exhorted to live faithfully within their particular cultures and social structures, however hostile to the Christian faith these may be.
