The first section of the book of Joshua ends with chapter 5 and Joshua’s encounter with the mysterious commander of the army of the Lord. Joshua interrogated this warrior to find out whether he was friend or foe. But Joshua soon discovers the real identity of the commander, and when he does, his response to him changes drastically.
